When you return from your trip, your dog will be happy to see you. We have some recommendations we believe will help make for a happy homecoming.
Dogs can become very excited when they return home and tend to gulp large quantities of food and water, which can trigger vomiting and/or diarrhea.
Do not give your dog water for at least 2-3 hours after returning home. You can give several ice cubes to tide your pet over until your pet has had a chance to settle down.
The same goes for feeding. Your pet may excessively drink and/or eat which can lead to digestive upsets and/or bloating. Do not feed your pet for at least 3 hours after going home from the kennel. You should then limit the food and water you provide until your pet has calmed down.
Walk your pet when you return home. Excitement may cause a change in urination or bowel movements due to returning home.
Donít be overly concerned if your dog sleeps a lot for the first couple of days after returning home. This is usually the result of being back in a familiar environment after being away.
In most cases, cats easily adapt to their return home.
